Delayed onset intermediate syndrome after organophosphate poisoning

چکیده
Intermediate syndrome is not an uncommon condition, it may occur following exposure to organophosphates, either accidental or suicidal. Picture of intermediate can develop within 24 96 h. We report the case a 41-year-old male patient, who had picture syndrome, occurring with delayed onset, than usual, after insecticide solution containing organophosphates. stress that patients have recovered from initial acute cholinergic crisis, should be closely observed for development syndrome.

Severe Organophosphate Poisoning with Delayed Cholinergic Crisis, Intermediate Syndrome and Organophosphate Induced Delayed Polyneuropathy on Succession
Organophosphate compounds are the organic derivatives of Phosphorous containing acids and their effect on neuromuscular junction and Autonomic Synapses is clinically important. After exposure these agents cause acute and sub acute manifestations depending on the type and severity of the agents like Acute Cholinergic Manifestations, Intermediate Syndrome with Nicotinic features and Delayed Centr...
متن کاملIntermediate syndrome following organophosphate insecticide poisoning.
Acute organophosphate insecticide poisoning can manifest 3 different phases of toxic effects, namely, acute cholinergic crisis, intermediate syndrome (IMS), and delayed neuropathy. Among them, IMS has been considered as a major contributing factor of organophosphate-related morbidity and mortality because of its frequent occurrence and probable consequence of respiratory failure. Despite a high...
متن کاملDelayed Polyneuropathy Induced by Organophosphate Poisoning
An 89-year-old man attempted suicide by ingesting a pesticide (trichlorfon). After surviving the initial critical period in the intensive care unit, he developed rapidly progressive distal weakness and sensory disturbance. Electrophysiological examinations revealed sensory motor axonal polyneuropathy. Delayed polyneuropathy is a rare manifestation of organophosphate poisoning. Nerve conduction ...
